What the Farmkart App Does
To strengthen our vision to make farmers' lives better we have derived various agritech solutions that cover different aspects of their everyday life. In 2019, we launched Farmkart's e-Commerce platform along with other tech solutions like UIC (Unique Identification Code), Farmkart Delivery, U2U (User to User Delivery), Farmkart Superstore, and rent4farm. Farmers associated with us from the start could benefit from our solutions because they aligned with our rigorous field research focusing on farmers' needs.
In order to upgrade farmers' online shopping experience, we recently launched the Farmkart App with a seamless user experience and a custom human-centric design made especially for rural Indian farmers. Available on Google Play Store and App Store, the Farmkart App offers around 700 agri-input products such as pesticides, fertilizers, seeds, etc. from over 100 global and domestic companies. Farmers can shop with the easiest user interface and one swipe checkout and other service options.
Payments, UIC and Paperless Transactions
A farmer can use multiple options to make payment while buying through this app, including payment via Unique Identification Code or UIC.
The farmers will also get e-receipts for their transactions which will save them from the hassles of keeping physical records. This way the app promotes paperless transactions and has an environment-friendly approach.
Equipment Rentals and Support Features
The app also offers agri-equipment on rent from certified suppliers under the rent4farm service. The Farmkart app fulfills all the unique agricultural needs of farmers and comes with the easiest interface with language options and direct access to chat with Farmkart representatives.
Other helpful features of the app include product recommendations based on season, instructional videos, option for express 24-hour delivery, weather information and related preventive measures, etc.

Who Uses the Farmkart App — and Why
The typical Farmkart user is a smallholder farmer with 1–5 acres in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, or Rajasthan, buying inputs 2–4 times per season and historically dependent on a local dealer whose prices are opaque and product authenticity is unverifiable.
The Farmkart app solves three specific pain points:
- Price transparency. The app shows MRP and any platform-negotiated discount for every product — eliminating the guesswork of whether the dealer's price is fair.
- Authenticity. Every product is sourced from certified manufacturers. The UIC (Unique Identification Code) system lets a farmer scan a product to verify its supply chain before applying it to their crop.

Farmkart vs General E-Commerce: Why It Had to Be Purpose-Built
A reasonable question: why couldn't farmers just use Amazon or Flipkart to buy agri-inputs?
The short answer: counterfeit seeds and pesticides kill crops. General e-commerce platforms lack the supply chain verification infrastructure to guarantee that a "certified" seed packet is authentic.
